Meet Larry V. Roberts


Larry was born in Akron, Ohio in 1953. He lived in Akron for 10 years before he and his family moved to the coalfields of Southwest Virginia in 1963, where his father and mother were originally from. Larry is proud of his family heritage and growing up in Southwest Virginia.

Larry V. Roberts graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 1991, and is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is licensed in Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida.

He founded The Roberts Law Firm in Johnson City, Tennessee and Punta Gorda, Florida. 

The National Association of Distinguished Counsel has named Roberts in the Nation’s Top One Percent, and he is among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Tennessee (The National Trial Lawyers). He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum (Top Trial Lawyers in America); a certified Pretrial Specialist (National Board of Trial Advocacy); and a graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College.

Larry V. Roberts is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist and Pretrial Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization, and Diplomat with the American Association for Justice. He has completed Advanced Studies in Trial Advocacy with the American Association for Justice, teaches Trial Advocacy and Pretrial Advocacy at Lincoln Memorial University School of Law, and speaks nationally to other attorneys about Pretrial Advocacy and Trial Advocacy. 

Larry V. Roberts is a member of the American Association for Justice: Public Education Committee; Professional Negligence Section; Motor Vehicle Collision, Highway & Premises Liability Section; and Jury Bias Litigation Group. He is also a member of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association; Melvin Belli Society; The National Trial Lawyers; Tennessee Association for Justice; Tennessee Bar Association; and Virginia Bar Association.

AAJ Diplomates and ASTA Awardees

AAJ members who have achieved Advanced Studies in Trial Advocacy (ASTA) status and the status of Diplomate as part of the Achievement Recognition Program (ARP) have accomplished this feat through continued education through AAJ. The goal of the programs is to build and develop professional knowledge through a continuing commitment to improving practical knowledge of trial skills and substantive law.
